KITCHEN EDITION
My kitchen is my favorite room in our house. Maybe it's because I love food so much. ha!
This is the room that sold me on our house when we were looking. This is the view looking in from the family room.
This is the room that sold me on our house when we were looking. This is the view looking in from the family room.
And this is looking in from the eating area - I love my cabinets. I think if we ever move - I will want cabinets just like this again.
This is our eating area/breakfast room (why is it called a breakfast room anyway?) We rarely eat here - only when we have company. We usually sit on the couch in front of the TV to eat (classy I know). One of my favorite things - the apothecary jars with fruit. I got each of these jars in different places and I just love them. At Christmas I like to put Christmas balls in them. I should switch them out for other holidays but I don't................maybe I'll start.
I found this lamp at a local store (OOPS) - it was like $20 or $30. I saw it in another local gift shop later for over $100. I love it. I also love the name plate that Kaye made us.
I fell in love with these canisters when we were registering for our wedding and got them as a gift - I still love them.
What is a Southern kitchen without a Southern Living Cookbook on display??? I have so many cookbooks it is ridiculous but I adore them. I'm not a big reader but I could sit and read cookbooks for hours. And I almost put the animal crackers away but this is a daily fight. I don't like for things that aren't "decorative" to sit out on our cabinets but pretty much daily I put these in the pantry and daily Scott brings them back out so I have finally given up. He grabs a handful every time he gets home from work (and pretty much everyone who comes to our house seems to want to eat some - thus the huge jar!)
I love this little bakers rack. I filled it up with pictures of friends and family and a lot of fleur de lis. No I was not a Kappa. I just love fleur de lis. This reminds that I NEED to print out pictures of Harper and start framing them. Shame on me for not doing that sooner. But pretty much all of our framed pictures are at least 5 years old.
I thought it would be fun to share our dishes. When we got married - I didn't register for China. I knew I would rarely use it and I thought it would be more fun to have two full sets of dishes to use instead. So far I have not regretted it. We also got Razorback dishes (of course) and Christmas Spode dishes.
So that's our kitchen and now I'm chomping at the bit to see YOURS!!!
So here are the rules - please link to your "post" and not just your blog when you add your name below. And PLEASE do not add your blog if you did not do a kitchen post. I will have to delete any links that do not relate to this tour. I can't wait to see your rooms! And remember - it's not about how "clean" your kitchen is or how " great it is decorated" - it's about sharing a little piece of "YOU!" (and if you have been following the Compassion bloggers this week - I think you can be grateful just to have a solid roof over your head and a bed to sleep in at night. I was crying tonight just looking at their pictures and thinking of how much I have and how little they have. )
OH AND NEXT FRIDAY: LIVING ROOMS (so you have a week to clean and take pics!)

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for this Kitchen SUYL. We were planning a kitchen/family room reno and I went through SO many of these posts. We used different ideas we gathered from different kitchens! I even became blog friends with one gal I met on here, when I asked her about their oven/microwave combo. (Which, by the way, we did purchase with her recommendation!)
ReplyDeleteToday I posted our renovation on our blog and I felt an urge to come and thank you Kelly, for hosting SUYL. You are probably helping people help each other more than you will ever know!
